Oklahoma Route 66

Route 66 MuseumA visit to the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum in Clinton Oklahoma is a memorable experience. The galleries throughout the museum have recently been redone to offer visitors a better journey through the history of the nation’s most famous highway.

Photographic displays allow visitors to learn about the vision and extensive labor required to make the highway a reality. See images of the dust bowl as thousands of downtrodden streamed along the road, to escape the drought and despair and make their way towards the land of promise that they believed awaited them in California.

Listen to the music of the Big Band Era and the Rock&Roll of the 1950's welcomed home returning soldiers in the 1940's and revolutionized music in the 1950's. Sit in a booth of a 1950’s diner and imagine what the open road felt like when American families vacationed along Route 66.

See restored cars and trucks of the eras in which the highway was at its prime and browse through an extensive giftshop packed with Route 66 memories.
